CO₂ Electroreduction

Converting CO₂ into industrial outputs.

Electrochemical CO₂ conversion technology — transforming industrial carbon emissions directly into viable feedstocks such as carbon monoxide, formic acid and ethylene through electrocatalysis.

What It Is

Turning a problem into a resource.

CO₂ electroreduction is an electrochemical process that converts carbon dioxide directly into useful chemicals and fuels. Rather than capturing and storing CO₂, this technology transforms it — using electrical energy to break the CO₂ molecule and rebuild it into outputs such as carbon monoxide, formic acid, ethylene, and other industrial feedstocks.

Unlike biological carbon capture methods, electrochemical conversion operates at industrial rates and can be integrated directly with emission sources. When powered by renewable electricity, the process supports full decarbonisation — and the outputs feed back into existing chemical manufacturing supply chains, creating a genuine industrial circular loop.

Why It Matters

The case for electrochemical CO₂ conversion.

Emission Reduction

CO₂ is converted at source, preventing atmospheric release and turning a liability into a usable industrial input rather than a waste stream.

Industrial Circularity

Products of CO₂ electroreduction — formic acid, syngas, ethylene — feed back directly into chemical manufacturing supply chains.

Grid-Compatible

The process can be powered by renewable electricity, making it suitable for integration into decarbonisation programmes at industrial facilities.

Scale Potential

Unlike biological capture methods, electrochemical conversion operates at industrial rates and can be directly integrated with emission sources.
