P-IR is an in-situ chemical reduction (ISCR) agent combining proprietary materials with natural, food-grade substances to create an optimal reducing environment for chlorinated solvents and organochlorine pesticides.
How It Works
P-IR is the only ISCR agent documented to inhibit methane production during combined ISCR and biological carbon fermentation (US Patent, Scalzi et al., 2013 / 2014) — improving hydrogen-donor utilisation efficiency and reducing material consumption while removing a safety and regulatory risk from elevated methane in groundwater, soil gas and indoor air.
Applications
- Chlorinated solvent and organochlorine pesticide contamination in soil and groundwater
- Sediment remediation
- Sites where soil vapour extraction (SVE) would otherwise be required
Advantages
- Patented methane-suppression during ISCR + biofermentation
- Reduces material consumption through improved hydrogen-donor efficiency
- A lower-cost, in-situ alternative to SVE systems
